Food that could make you sick.

Hello people!

I love reading random stuffs on Yahoo. You can gain a lot and know a lot of stuffs just by reading from Yahoo. I'm not a bookworm. But I certainly am a networm. I created this word okay. [Networm]

Definition of networm - Someone who loves reading on the internet.

You can only find this word in my blog. In my dictionary. HAHAHAHAHAH

Okay. Get into the point. I was browsing through Yahoo and I saw this.

10 FOOD THAT CAN MAKE YOU SICK.

1. Leafy greens

Yes, they’re your favorite go-to salad greens—lettuce, escarole, endive, spinach, cabbage, kale, arugula, and chard.
But they also caused 363 outbreaks involving 13,568 reported cases of illness since 1990. (Remember bagged spinach in 2006?)
Greens can be contaminated by manure, dirty water rinses, or unwashed hands before you even purchase them.
To avoid getting sick, wash produce and prevent cross-contamination (improper handling of meat in the kitchen can spread bacteria to other types of food, including greens) by washing hands and using separate cutting boards.

2. Eggs.

This breakfast favorite has been linked to 352 outbreaks since 1990, most often due to Salmonella bacteria.
The bacteria can lurk inside the egg, so proper cooking is key (which kills the germs). Avoid eating any products containing raw eggs, including cookie dough.
“Our food supply is safe,” says Craig Hedberg, PhD, of the University of Minnesota School of Public Health in Minneapolis. “There is roughly one illness for every three to four thousand meals served,” he says.
Still, “raw food items like eggs may have contamination and need to be handled properly.”
3. Tuna

This type of fish can be contaminated by scombrotoxin, which causes flushing, headaches, and cramps.
If it is stored above 60 degrees after being caught, fresh fish can release the toxin, which cannot be destroyed by cooking (and is unrelated to mercury contamination or other problems related to tuna and other fish).
Tuna has been linked to 268 scombroid poisoning outbreaks since 1990.
“You just can’t cook out all the things wrong with food supply right now,” CSPI's Klein says.

4. Oysters

Before being transformed into a pricey delicacy, oysters lurk on the ocean floor doing what they do best—filter feeding.
And if the water they are filtering is contaminated, so are the oysters. (Or they can be contaminated during handling.)
If served raw or undercooked, oysters can contain germs—mostly a gut-churner called norovirus and a bacterium known as Vibrio vulnificus—that can cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

5. Potatoes

A freshly scrubbed spud that’s properly cooked is unlikely to cause illness. But watch out for potato salad.
Cross contamination—the transfer of germs from one type of food, usually meat, to another—can be the source of the problem.
Potato-related outbreaks of illness have been traced to germs like Listeria (which can live on deli counters ), Shigella, E. coli, and Salmonella.
6. Cheese

While restaurants are a key source of other food-related outbreaks, most people who get sick from cheese do so from products consumed at home.
Cheese can be contaminated with bacteria like Salmonella or Listeria, which can cause miscarriages.
(That’s why doctors warn pregnant women to avoid soft cheeses, such as feta, Brie, Camembert, blue-veined, and Mexican style cheese.)
7. Ice-cream

I scream, you scream. We all scream from ice cream? Ice cream has been linked to 75 outbreaks caused by bacteria like Salmonella and Staphylococcus since 1990, according to the CSPI.
The largest outbreak occurred in 1994, when a batch of pasteurized ice cream premix was transported in a Salmonella-contaminated truck, and then used to make ice cream without re-pasteurizing.
“People are making ice cream at home and using raw eggs in the household,” explains Hedberg.
8. Tomatoes

Although tomatoes were found “not guilty” in a 2008 outbreak that sickened thousands (the culprits were jalapeno and Serrano peppers), this summer favorite has been linked to at least 31 outbreaks.
“Lettuce or tomatoes may be contaminated, but once they enter a household, you can make sure that you don’t allow the bacteria to grow and multiply,” says Hedberg.
To do this: wash hands for 20 seconds with warm water and soap before and after preparing fresh produce; wash fruits and vegetables under running water just before eating, cutting, or cooking, even if you plan to peel it before eating; and keep fruits and vegetables that will be eaten raw separate from other foods.
9. Sprouts

While sprouts are practically the poster child for healthy food, they can also be vulnerable to bacterial contamination.
The seeds used to produce the sprouts can be contaminated in the field, and water and warm growing conditions that encourage germination can also boost bacterial growth.
The FDA and CDC recommend that the elderly, young children, and those with weakened immune systems avoid eating raw sprouts.
10. Berries

Another common source of food poisoning is berries, including strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries.
A 1997 outbreak that sickened thousands of children via school lunches was traced to hepatitis A-contaminated frozen strawberries (possibly from a farm worker in Baja California, Mexico).
Other cases—linked to imported raspberries from Chile and Guatemala—have been caused by a germ called Cyclospora, which causes severe diarrhea, dehydrations, and cramps.

It's logic to wash veges and fruits before eating them. But some doesn't make sense le. Like the tomatoes. And berries!

Anyway, this is something extra that maybe we should know.

Just want to share it.

Another random post.

Since Kah Sing is going to KL soon, and that I couldn't join my friends for lunch the other day, I decided to spend the last few nights with Kah Sing. Had to tutor the kids until 9. So we were out quite late for two consecutive days.

Went Wu Cha the first night (25.9.2013) with Kah Sing and Eric. Drank double chocolate smoothies! Again. That's the only drink that I've ever ordered ever since I was introduced by my brother. It's the one and only. Nothing else. Lol. I just stick to the drink that I love. Loyal le. HAHAHAHA. Had a great talk. It's been too long since we had this long conversation where we just sit down and talk.

Second night:

Wanted to eat ice-cream. But Mcd ran out of ice-cream. How can Mcd ran out of ice-cream. Since we're in town, Eric drove to Plaza Merdeka's Mcd. It was 10 something. And they were closing. Again no ice-cream. Too sad. In the end we went Petanak. Cha Kueh stall closed. Porridge stall closed. Just our luck. Find a place to sit and continue our talk.

Been making smoothies these few days. It's superb. I never thought of making smoothies to drink until I saw BenjimanTV uploaded this video.

H.E.R.E.

It's quick and healthy. Love it. Strawberry is so expensive. :( So only added banana. Banana smoothie. Good for the body. But that day when I went Upwell I did manage to buy a box of strawberry for only RM3.50. Haha.

I stopped making juices. But I started making smoothies. Lol. By the way, the juices that I made, I got the recipe from BenjimanTV too. Same goes to the Chocolate Chip Cookies.

H.E.R.E. (I realised I never did update the post about the amount of ingredient needed to bake the cookies :S)

Ps: Will update them soon enough.

iOS7 is here in the universeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. At first I didn't like it. Like really really don't like the version. But after being told by my teacher about how cool it is, I decided to update to iOS7. Now I'm loving it. Haha. It's so cool.

I want to make guacamole. Here's a picture of guacamole.

It's a dip. People usually eat it with tortilla chips.

Do we have tortilla chips in Kuching? I'm just gonna eat it with Lays Chips!

Searched for it's nutrition facts. Haha.

Fat

A 1/2-cup serving of pureed avocado contains 16.86g of total fat, but only 2.4g of that is the unhealthy saturated kind. The remaining fat is the healthy unsaturated variety that has a positive impact on your overall health. Making the majority of your fat intake unsaturated may help you achieve a healthy cholesterol level, reduce inflammation and maintain a healthy heart beat. Including the monounsaturated fats found in avocados in your diet may also help reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease.

Fiber

The avocado in your serving of guacamole is a healthy source of fiber, and the chopped tomatoes and onions often added increase the fiber content a bit more. If you are one of the many people who do not get enough fiber in your diet, a serving of guacamole will increase your daily total by 7.7g per 1/2-cup serving. Fiber helps support a healthy digestive system and may reduce your chances of developing cancer, heart disease and type 2 diabetes.

Vitamins

Add a 1/2-cup serving of guacamole to your meal and you will get a wealth of essential nutrients. One of the most notable is vitamin C, which helps support a healthy immune system. Pureed avocado contains 11.5mg of vitamin C per 1/2 cup, and the chopped tomato and onion add a bit more. You also get 2mg of niacin, 93mcg of folate, 71.5mcg of beta-carotene and 168 IU of vitamin A.

Minerals

Guacamole contains a wealth of minerals, the most notable being potassium. Potassium helps support healthy muscular and circulatory systems and also aids in keeping your skeletal system functioning properly. A 1/2-cup serving of pureed avocado supplies you with an impressive 558mg of potassium, and the tomato and onion usually added to guacamole supply small amounts on top of that. You also get 0.64mg of iron, which promotes healthy red blood cell production. Your serving of guacamole also contains small amounts of zinc, magnesium and calcium.

 That's all for now.

Xoxo.

See you soon dear friend.

Another friend leaving to further her studies. Although it's only KL, but it's still not Kuching.

What's up?

Tutor my student this morning. Who cried that day. I told her not to cry liao. Let's work hard together to improve your studies. Guess what she replied?

This mischievous student was like,
'I cry because it was about to rain ma'
[It was raining that afternoon]

Naughty ho?

Here's some pictures that I took at Friendship Park during Mooncake Festival.

Two 'flying lanterns' flying up high to the sky.

Random people trying to fly the lantern.

Love shape lantern! This is so cool! Never seen it before. People are so creative and innovative these days.

Trying to fly the lantern.

And again.

And. Again.

Some lanterns hanging on the tree.

This lantern is unique. Different shape from the others.

Couple! I assume. Lol.

Fly your lantern to the moon.

Fly me to the moon.
I was supposed to bring my bro's friend back home. But it's impossible for me to drive in the heavy traffic. So I suggested to walk him back home with my brother. Haha. And yes. We did. His friend was so touched! Because we walked him home. Haha. I do crazy stuff when I'm a little high. I was like,

'Come my little ducklings, walk behind me. I will lead the way!'
Even sang 'Three little ducklings cross the road' la la la la.
I know I'm crazy. I admit okay. Haha.

Went Starbucks that night! Ahh. It's been too long since I last had one. Slept around 4 something that morning! Couldn't sleep! I bet it's the coffee.

Freda is now officially in Johor. Further her studies! Good luck darling!
Went out for dinner at Flinders! Food was so so. But we had a good talk. :) Pik Ai couldn't join us because she has to study for the mock exam. So we went to her house instead. Haha. Had a good chat.

Been playing red alert. It's addictive!

Running man variety show is so funny! Looking forward to it every single week! Especially Saturday! Two episodes back to back! Love it so mucchhhh. I can laugh non-stop watching this show. I might get abs soon for laughing so hard. Hahahaha.

That's it for now. Enjoy reading! Thanks.

20 September 2013.

Don't know what is the name of the post so date it is. Trial SPM is over. Bro and his friends got back their papers. I'm proud to say that they've improved. Really proud of them. Even if its not an A+ but the fact that they improved means a lot to me. If you go to a tuition and still didn't improve, that's not really a good thing. No? Even if it's an improvement of one mark, it's still an improvement. My student improve ten marks leh! Good enough Liao. They still have time to improve more. I believe they can do better in the next coming exam. Which is well in two weeks time. Work hard people. I have faith in you guys. I want to see improvement. Improvement means they learnt something from what I teach them. Means they pay attention to what I was teaching. Sum it all. Means a lot to me.

Gonna drill my other student. I cannot give up on her. That's just too cruel. She needs to learn to understand. I know she can and she will. She cried that day leh. I asked her is it because I scolded you? She say no. Because you don't know how to do? No. If not then parents scolded you? No. Bad results? Yes. I don't know if she's scared to say that it's because I scolded her. But I told her not to cry because she still have one year before her external exam.

By the way, I know it's a little late but happy moon cake festival! Went to friendship park with friends. It was so crowded. There were so many people. Like market. Many people were lighting up wishing lattern. I did last year but didn't this year. Brought DSLR there. Need to really learn how to use. Took quite a number of photos. Gonna upload them. Soon I guess. On Facebook. So check it out if you want to. Appreciate it.

And I am a really bad driver. Bad ass driver. Inconsiderate driver. I horn people who walk in the middle of the road. There's this one time where a group of people walking in the middle of the road. I was like okay. I didn't really do anything. In the evening again it happened. I honked her. First thing, I was in a hurry. Second thing, this is not your daddy's road. Third thing, it's the second time. So yea. I honked her and she jumped. Because she was shocked that someone just honked her. Badass right? How can I be so evil. I need to find my inner peace like now. I couldn't stand people driving so slow. Especially when I'm at the back of that car. You're not sight seeing you know. You're driving you know. Why am I so bad. Safety first ma. Why must I complain. Walao eh. I should really change this bad habit of mine. Bad temper. Not good not good.

Good news! I'm an aunty again! Hehe. Cousin have birth to a baby boy! So cute! Can't wait for more nieces and nephews. Love them lots.

I made promise to myself. That I will work hard. Earn money to pay for my studies. The feeling of being able to lighten parents burden makes me happy. Makes me proud of myself. Lets hope for the best. Finger crossed.

I should update my blog more often. It's good to be able to blog again. I was lazy and at the same time busy with tutoring. No topic to blog and no time to blog too.

Oh one more thing. I thought of this quote recently. Posted on Facebook. I find it meaningful. 'Everyone has brain. But not everyone uses their brain wisely.' Okay this might be a cruel quote. But I find it true. Might be too straight forward but I really like this quote. Forgive me if you don't think it's a good thing to say these.

It's 2.26 in the morning. I'm still here blogging. I baked macaroons! It turned out pretty good! Love it. Now that I know why my macaroons cracked before that. Gonna bake more soon. I shall bake something else too. Oh I did make ice cream too. Bro wanted me to make cause he likes my ice cream. Haha. I don't know why I don't really like it. But he likes it a lot.

Freda's flying off today. Gonna miss her. We have this whatsapp group. But I seldom reply. I just don't. Not that I'm arrogant la. But when I reply I sort of put my feelings into it. And it'll grow. So when one day, anyone of them going somewhere else to study, it will hit me that things will change. It'll not be the same. And it'll be so sad that I'll be crying my butt off. Which I don't want it to happen. It'll be easier for me to live my days too. Am I being selfish? I think it is selfish. But I couldn't help myself.

This post is getting way too long. Thanks for lending my your ears. Appreciate.

Thanks.

Xoxo.

Cousin's wedding!

It was a Saturday! Falls on the 14th of September 2013.

I was the maid of honor that day! Happy happy. Never been one before. It's my first time.

Man I slept around 4 that morning. And woke up around 6. I was so tired. I just want to sleep. Get and ready and off we go to cousin's place.

I was so tired that I slept at my cousin's place while waiting for the time to go to the church. While the rest had buffet lunch at the church. I just fall asleep. I was so tired.

After church went home and rest for awhile. Get ready for dinner!

Apparently it was a good day. According to feng shui. A lot of people got married. Went saloon with mum and get our hair done baby. Curled my hair. My hair is so stubborn. Lol. The curl is gone by the time the event starts. Aiya.

Anyway, had fun during the dinner. Didnt really eat much though. After dinner it's party time! Party with the cousins!

Played this dice game. Don't know what is it called. But who ever lose the bet had to drink half a glass of beer. It was so fun. Haven't been enjoying myself this much lately. Good to get together with the cousins and have some fun.

Got home after two. ._. It's so early in the morning I know.

That's about it. Enjoy reading. Lol.

Xoxo.

Duck Dynasty

Did I mention about Duck Dynasty? No right? Not that I remember. So it a no. Haha.
I never knew this show existed before. Until my bro introduce it to me.

This is a reality show. Like meet the Kardashians show. Never watched Kardashians show though. But I tell you! You won't regret watching Robertson Family. It's funny and it's a really nice show to watch. Worth my time watching it.

Here's some intro about Duck Dynasty.

Duck Dynasty is an American reality television series on A&E. It shows the lives of the Robertson family, who became wealthy from their family-operated business, Duck Commander, operated in West MonroeLouisiana, which makes products for duck hunters, primarily the duck call named Duck Commander. The Robertson men, brothers Phil and Si, and Phil's sons Jase, Willie, and Jep, are known for their long beards. The business began in a family shed, where Phil Robertson spent 25 years making duck calls from Louisiana cedar trees. His son Willie is now the CEO of the company. The family was previously featured on the series Benelli Presents Duck Commander and its spin-off Buck Commander, which still airs on the Outdoor Channel.

It's amazing how they made duck call by themselves which is used to call ducks. They expand this businesses into a multimillionaire em-payer.

Here's some info about Robertson Family.

Robertson family

Phil Robertson (Phil Alexander Robertson) created the Duck Commander duck call in 1972, and incorporated the Duck Commander Company in 1973. He played college football at Louisiana Tech University, starting ahead of Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw, and was offered a contract by the Washington Redskins after his junior year. He turned it down and quit football because it interfered with duck season. Phil is known for his dislike of modern technology (he proudly admits that he does not own a cellphone or a computer) and his concern that his grandchildren are becoming "yuppies". Phil also professes belief in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Kay Robertson (Marsha Kay Robertson, née Carroway; born December 21, 1950) is Phil's wife, and is most often referred to as Miss Kay. She married Phil at age 16. She is the mother of Alan, Jase, Willie, and Jep. She loves cooking, so she always has her entire family over for a home-cooked meal after a hard day's work. (The meal setting is featured at the end of each episode, with Phil praying beforehand and Willie talking about the events of the episode).
Si Robertson (Silas Merritt Robertson) is Willie's uncle, a Vietnam War veteran. He works at Duck Commander, making the reeds that go into every duck call. Si is known for his storytelling, his constant use of the expression "Hey!" and his ever-present blue plastic Tupperware cup, which his mother sent him while he was stationed in Vietnam. Si is married to Christine.
Christine Robertson (née Raney) is Si's wife. She appears on the show as of season four.
Willie Robertson (Willie Jess Robertson) is third son of Phil and Miss Kay, and CEO of Duck Commander. He used his business degree (Harding University) to take Duck Commander from a family business to a multi-million dollar empire. He is married to Korie Robertson, and they have four children. Willie does the majority of the narration on the show.
Korie Robertson (née Howard) is Willie's wife and business partner. She also graduated from Harding University. She is the office manager of Duck Commander. Korie and Willie have known one another since she was in 3rd grade, and he was in 4th grade. They married on January 11, 1992 when they were 18 (Korie) and 19 (Willie). They have four children: John Luke, Sadie, an adopted son named Will (called "Lil Will" on the show), and Bella. Rebecca is their exchange student from Taiwan.
Jase Robertson (Jason Silas Robertson) is Willie's brother (the second-oldest of Phil and Miss Kay's sons) and is in charge of the manufacturing aspects of Duck Commander. Along with other employees, Jase tunes the duck calls by hand. Many of the episodes feature the laid-back, self-professed redneck Jase doing something to aggravate the gung-ho, business-savvy Willie (such as turning a warehouse cleaning into a ping-pong battle).
Missy Robertson (née West) is Jase's wife. Missy and Jase have three children: Reed, Cole, and Mia.
Jep Robertson (Jules Jeptha Robertson; born May 28, 1978) is Phil and Miss Kay's youngest son. For enthusiasts worldwide, he currently films and edits DVDs of the Robertson family hunting. He is often seen at Duck Commander and at family dinners. He is married to Jessica and they have four children.
Jessica Robertson is Jep's wife. Jessica and Jep have four children: Lily, Merritt, Priscilla, and River.
Alan Robertson is Phil and Kay's eldest son and is Willie, Jase and Jep's oldest brother. He left the family business originally to become a preacher, but left this profession to join his family both at Duck Commander doing public relations and on the show beginning in season four. Unlike the rest of his family, Alan does not have a beard. He says he wanted to join the show so he can spread the word of God to more people.
Lisa Robertson is Alan's wife. She appears on the show as of season four.

So do watch them if you have the time!

That's all for now.

Xoxo.

These few days

Hello people! I've been busy. Like busy busy. Good thing.

Here's some story for you.

I gave my student nougat. An Australian candy. The candy is too hard that he couldn't bite it. It's so hard that his teeth bleed. Kolien. So I told him I'll buy him other candy next time. He went home, ate an apple. You know la. Apple is hard too.  After eating the apple, his tooth shake le! Coming off soon. Lol. He then shake and pull his tooth out. Haha. I felt sorry for him. Because of the candy he lost a tooth. Lol. Then the next day another tooth came off too. So kolien la. It was so funny but at the same time kolien too.

I went Starbucks the other day with Louis. It's funny how we know each other. It's different from how I know the rest of my friends. We know each other few years back during Christmas mass. I was there with my cousins. And I saw this guy with his parents. Not knowing who he was. There's this one time on Facebook, we chatted and that's how our friendship started. Not going into details. But that's about it. Haha. My point is how often do you be friend with someone through social networking? The chances of you making friend is very slim aite? But it's true. That's how our friendship started. I was telling him that day. I have this feeling that the Starbucks barista thinks I'm a play girl. Because right. Every time I go to Starbucks it's always with different people. Like seriously. I'm not joking. Aiya but I won't be going Starbucks that often too la. My Starbucks buddy all not in Kuching Liao! No one to accompany me to Starbucks Liao. Good thing too. Then I'll not be spending so much on Starbucks. Louis was like 'no wonder that barista always looked at me'. HAHAHAHA. Sorry Louis. Had a good chat though. It was nice catching up with this sista!

Went out to three small with Kah Sing and Chris. It's been long time since I last saw them. Had a good time chatting with  them. Ate kkj. If you know what I mean.

I've been making juice to drink. It's a combination of grapes, apple and lemon. With lots of ice! It's delicious! Especially with lemon added. Taste so good! And refreshing! You guys should try it too! Don't put too much lemon though! The taste and smell of the lemon is strong. Learnt this from Benji! A YouTuber. I did post about my chocolate chip cookies right? Got the recipe from him! He's a really good cook! And he always make green juice for his wife and daughter! My juice is not green haha because I don't have celery at home. I will try next time.

I want to watch conjuring! But sadly, I don't have the guts to watch. Went out with Eric on Friday. Went to the spring to grab some things. Then went to Howdy. It was my first time there though. I would say the environment is not bad. Quite relaxing and definitely a nice place to catch up with friends. Food was okay. Wanted to order potato salad and fries! But finished already. Aiya we were there quite late too. Lol. So it's okay. Ordered Alfredo pasta and wedges instead. Food was okay. Not bad. I don't know if they made a mistake or what. But I really think they made a mistake. They forgot to charge the wedges into our bill. Haha. Free wedges for us.

That's all for now.

Xoxo.
